As a member of the Global Innoversity for MetroAg/MetroFood, one of FoodPLUS|Detroit’s values is to uphold the operating and guiding principles of the Global Innoversity.
FoodPlusDetroit’s global connection
The Global Innoversity is an innovation accelerator through which the world’s metropolitan regions get inspired and supported to develop, co-create and share innovations in food, agriculture and integrated resource systems. The Global Innoversity is a self-sustaining global program for mutual action learning on metropolitan agriculture in, between and for the metropolitan regions of the world. Its goal is to successfully develop, share and implement a globally acknowledged ‘methodology’ for developing metropolitan agriculture in innovation clusters in metropolitan regions around the world. FoodPLUS|Detroit is one of the seven founding innovation coalitions.

MEMBERSHIP
The Global Innoversity has as its members various metropolitan regions from around the world who learn from each other as they innovate food, agriculture, and related resource systems in their respective metropolitan regions. The global interaction generates another round of innovation to be fed back to the members. Joint programs for resource development, shared education and other purposes will also be created across the innoversity network. FoodPLUS|Detroit is one of the seven founding innovation coalitions and is actively engaged in its continued development. One coalition member is designated as a delegate to serve as a director on the Global Innoversity Board. Four coalition members are selected to serve as delegates to represent FoodPLUS|Detroit in the delegate assembly which is convened annually, the first of which was hosted in February 2013 in Detroit.
INNOVATION PROGRAM
Each member metropolitan region implements its own program of innovation. A lead knowledge institution in each region convenes a local group to steer creation of an Innovation Cluster (or similar set of programs) to carry out projects consistent with the Global Innoversity operating and guiding principles. These projects become the source of local innovation and feed into the global network to spur further innovation.
BRAND IDENTITY
Each innovation cluster chooses its own branding. In Detroit, FoodPLUS|Detroit is the brand under which a portfolio of action projects will be developed to implement innovations, including commercialization as businesses. Each innovation cluster and each project supported by the cluster is to be led by a multi?stakeholder coalition of business, government, societal/ community organizations and knowledge institutions.
