Join the network as an affiliate, partner, or sponsor.  Choose the engagement relationship best suited for you based on your current capacity, goals, and interests, changing the relationship as things evolve. You may engage as an individual or as a representative of an agency, organization or business.  All engagers are encouraged to participate in an action team.

Engagement Relationships

There are four types of engagement relationships with FPD.  Engagement in more than one type of relationship is welcomed and encouraged.

Affiliates

  • Affiliates engage in policy and systems change, public and community engagement, and system infrastructure development
  • Affiliates engage in distributed leadership, co-learning and knowledge-sharing; All are encouraged to contribute talent and resource(s) in ways that are most appropriate for their capacity
  • FPD works with affiliates to “facilitate and accelerate” formation and implementation of their projects based on agreements or contracts
  • Interest areas of Affiliates
    • Policy – focus on policy issue framing, dialog, advocacy, development, implementation
    • Sustainability – work collaboratively to define and advance sustainability practices
    • Urban Agriculture and Food Systems – work collaboratively to define and advance
    • Friend raising – working to connect FPD to individuals and organizations with complementary vision, mission, goals, etc.

Partners

  • Program partners:
    • Partners are generally organizations that have substantial resources. FPD engagement with partner organizations is strategic – filling a gap, complementing, co-branding, experimentation, research, innovation, scaling up/smart scaling (organizational capacity building), community engagement, etc.
    • Partnering individuals or organizations work in collaboration with FPD to provide fee-based and fee-free support services and resources
  • Funding partners:
    • Funding partners are private donors, venture and impact investors, and foundations that make strategic sustained investments in FPD operations and its project portfolio.
    • FPD monitors and report on the management of innovative projects so that targeted economic and social returns on funders investments are realized.
    • FPD affiliate members serving as funding partners implement innovative methods of raising funds for FPD’s work.

Sponsors

  • Sponsoring organizations and individuals invest to cover specific expenses such as convenings, conferences, learning journeys, etc.
  • FPD engages with sponsors to identify resource investment opportunities that align with their values and strategic goals
